When faced with a situation, it’s perfectly natural for fear to creep into our minds and begin ruling our thoughts. Fear has a self preserving effect, it can stop you from an unhealthy diet, from falling off of a cliff, fear can even stop you from doing something socially stupid (what will the neighbors say!).
The problem comes when we allow fear to reign in our lives, when we let fear be the sole reason for making an otherwise courageous choice.
I know parents that are so afraid of pushing their kids away from church, they never take them to church.
There are people who are so afraid of failing, they never follow their dream career.
Some people are so afraid of being broke, they never give.
We must take our thoughts captive, focus on the goodness of the Lord, and intentionally drive fear out of our minds. If we don’t, fear will override our thoughts, our actions, and our lives.
When making a decision, fear can never be the determining factor!
